BENDABLE JESUS

A couple of weeks ago, our grandson had his heart set on a "bendable" Jesus AKA Jesus action figure.  I'm not sure what led up to it but he was determined to find one.  I told him there was a store in Tulsa that had a lot of Jesus toys and when we had time we would go to the "God Store" (Mardel ya'll) and get a bendable Jesus (like I knew what that was).  I assumed he would forget.  He didn't.  On the way to our house at 7:30 in the morning, he asked Papa if this was the day we were going to the God Store.  So we headed out on a field trip,

We were walking across the parking lot to Mardel and I thought I better pray "Lord, your word says "seek and you will find" and we really need to find a bendable Jesus.  Amen."  I hadn't been to Mardel in years and in my mind it was like Target with rows and rows of toys.  We walked in and it was not anything like Target.  It had rows and rows of everything except toys.  There were a few toy aisles in the back.  So we started on our trek, not finding a bendable Jesus.  At that point I was getting a little panicked and said "You can have anything you want in this store.  Look!  There is David and Goliath and Goliath has a SWORD."  Nope.  None of that.  Then I found Noah "Oh my goodness!  There is Noah and the Ark and look!  It is full of animals!!!"  Nope. None of that.  At this point, I am sweating bullets and I pray "Lord, you and I are kind of on the line here.  I need a bendable Jesus or it's going to be a long conversation all the way back to Wagoner."  We had already had one of those conversations where grandson said "If God created all the dinosaurs, why did he destroy them?" which I thought was an excellent question and I did not have a good answer because I know nothing about dinosaurs and I am making this up as I go (grin).  Papa said tell him it's because they were mean and they were eating people.  So I did and it worked for now.  LOL

Anyway, so we are looking and looking and on the last aisle I look UP (of course) and there He is.  It's Jesus.  And he's bendable!  The last one ("I am the only One. The Lord your God").  I think I heard some angels sing and I saw a bright light!  Thank you Jesus!  Our younger grandson already had a small Jesus stuffy and wanted the bigger one with the long arms and legs ("Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save" Isaiah 59:1).  So we got it and headed out. On the way home our grandson said he was giving all of his other action figures to his little brother because Jesus was the most powerful (I agree) and he did as soon as we got home.

I learned a few valuable take aways that day:

*    When your heart is set on finding Jesus, God will move heaven and earth to reveal Him to you!

*    There are no substitutes that will satisfy the need for a relationship with Jesus.

*    Jesus isn't meant to set on a shelf and gather dust.  He really is an alive action figure!

*    Jesus is bendable and will reach down to rescue you out of whatever pit you are in! ("He rescued me because He delighted in me") Psalm 18:19

*    Jesus won't share His glory with Spiderman, Ironman, Superman or any other super heroes in your life!

*    Jesus will satisfy all your heart's desires because He changes those desires for a heart like His.

I took this picture on the way home and I get so tickled when I look at it.

I can imagine me hollering "Jesus, Take the Wheel!!!!!"  and Jesus saying "I would love to but I'm in the back seat!  I'm not even in the front seat with you and I am not going to pry your bony little figures off the death grip you have on the steering wheel!".  "But it's scary going 80 mph on the highway of life and letting go of the steering wheel!"  But.....He is really the only One who knows where we are going and how we are going to get there.  There is so much freedom when you surrender your stubborn will, your prideful ways, your selfish desires, your dire circumstances, your righteous attitude and your divided heart to the One you can trust. He is faithful.  He has the answers you are looking for.  He is always Sovereign and in control.  You may not have the power to control but you always have the power to surrender (Craig Groeschel, LifeChurch)  Just Simply Surrender.

"All my life you have been faithful,

All my life you have been so, so, good.

With every breath that I am able,

I will sing of the goodness of God".

Love Him.                            Love ya'll dearly.
