ANOTHER TRIP AROUND THE SUN!
I have a birthday coming up. Not a big one. Sixty-six. Just a number really. I usually don’t remember how old I am and have to stop and do the math and since I’m not a math person, it takes a minute! I also have to pause and think about our class. We have a ton of August birthdays this month. We have several members from 81 to 89 years old in our class and believe me, you would never guess they are 80 anything. They are up and running and I can’t keep up with some of them. When you ask what their secret is (and I always do!), they will say family, their faith, exercise, being active, having a purpose. They are calm, peaceful, fun people that seem to love life. They have a sense of humor and love to laugh (there is a lot to laugh about in class – smile). They always come in with a smile. They are easy to be around. They are easy to talk to. They are wise and give me good advice. They are generous beyond belief. They are kind, considerate, polite, respectful of others. They know who they are. They don’t do drama. They are resilient. The live in the moment. They are forgiving. They are extremely thankful. That describes our whole class! I hope to be just like them when I grow up!
Every
person is so interesting and I always wonder what makes them tick! What makes them get up every morning and
move? What motivates them every day? What’s their take on life? I love their stories (everyone has one) and I
love their backgrounds. We are all so
different but so alike. They have all
had trials and hard times and scars (don’t we all?) They are all survivors. But not merely survivors, they are
“thrivers”.
I
was thinking about this class and how life led up to it. If I hadn’t gone through a hard
season in life, I wouldn’t have applied for a job at RSVP. If I hadn’t been a career “volunteer”, I
wouldn’t have qualified for the job. If
I had not gotten the job and a coworker talked me into it, I would not have
gotten certified in Tai Chi. I would not
have started a wellness class for seniors and I probably wouldn’t be here. But I did and God opened doors. And I am so
thankful He did. It changed the
trajectory of my life. One of the
hardest times in life produced one of the most joyous seasons in my life. That’s how God works. He worked everything out for good, beyond
what I could ask or think. And now, it is a huge part of my life and a blessing every week! Blessings to you this week!
Love Him. Love ya'll dearly.
Diana
