BENDABLE JESUS

Image
A couple of weeks ago, our grandson had his heart set on a "bendable" Jesus AKA Jesus action figure.  I'm not sure what led up to it but he was determined to find one.  I told him there was a store in Tulsa that had a lot of Jesus toys and when we had time we would go to the "God Store" (Mardel ya'll) and get a bendable Jesus (like I knew what that was).  I assumed he would forget.  He didn't.  On the way to our house at 7:30 in the morning, he asked Papa if this was the day we were going to the God Store.  So we headed out on a field trip, We were walking across the parking lot to Mardel and I thought I better pray "Lord, your word says "seek and you will find" and we really need to find a bendable Jesus.  Amen."  I hadn't been to Mardel in years and in my mind it was like Target with rows and rows of toys.  We walked in and it was not anything like Target.  It had rows and rows of everything except toys.  There were a few t...

ANOTHER TRIP AROUND THE SUN!

I have a birthday coming up.   Not a big one.   Sixty-six.   Just a number really.   I usually don’t remember how old I am and have to stop and do the math and since I’m not a math person, it takes a minute!   I also have to pause and think about our class.   We have a ton of August birthdays this month.   We have several members from 81 to 89 years old in our class and believe me, you would never guess they are 80 anything.   They are up and running and I can’t keep up with some of them.   When you ask what their secret is (and I always do!), they will say family, their faith, exercise, being active, having a purpose.   They are calm, peaceful, fun people that seem to love life.   They have a sense of humor and love to laugh (there is a lot to laugh about in class – smile).   They always come in with a smile.   They are easy to be around.   They are easy to talk to.   They are wise and give me good advice. ...

GERITOL!

Amazon is on its way!  Someone at Amazon decided my order needed to be rushed between 4am and 8am.  They must've looked at my profile and said this gal needs this stuff ASAP!  I can see them flying by other cars, passing everyone in front of them, and honking at slow pokes. My order is anti-aging potion, or maybe some sort of B complex LOL.  It is supposed to however, give me energy, help me recover better from workouts (woohoo), boost my longevity and help me get more done in a day! (their words not mine lol)  (Whew)  Remember Geritol?  I think it's just a new version of Geritol!!!  I can't wait to get it for my new season of life. (And yes, you can still get Geritol!  It comes in the nasty tasting liquid or pill form LOL) I have watched my grandsons parttime since 2018. That has been my assignment that God gave me for the past 7 years.  He has blessed me with memories and sweet times together that I will cherish forever.  In...

Another Birthday Shenanigan

My dad's birthday was Tuesday.  Jerry and I and my brother went to visit him in the nursing home and tell him happy birthday.  I walked in and said "Happy 97th birthday!".  He said "I'm 98" and I said "no dad, you were born in 1928 so you're 97".  He was very adamant about being 98.  So I decided when you're 90 anything, you can have what you want (and you don't argue with my dad because you won't win!) He's 98 this year and next.  (smile) We were sitting in the lobby talking to him and he said something we couldn't understand. The he turned and wheeled off in his wheelchair with us sitting there.  We all three just looked at each with shocked looks on our faces. "Did he just leave?"  my brother asked.  "He's never done that before".  "I'm not sure where he went"  I said.  "Should we leave or sit here?"  We got a little tickled about it.  Maybe he needed a nap.  Maybe he just d...

A NEW THING!

I get excited about new things.  A new flower popping up.  A new sunrise with no rain!  A new song on my playlist. A new chocolate treat!  A new friend.  A new person coming to class.  God loves new things too.  This morning, this was my scripture in Isaiah 42: "I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness.   I will also hold you by the hand and watch over you.   Behold, the  former things have come to pass .  Now I declare new things.  Before they spring forth, I declare them to you."   There is a prerequisite to new things.  You have to let the former things pass to receive new things.  They have come to pass not stay forever.  It may be grief, regret, unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness.  Whatever has put its feet up in your life and made itself comfortable.  It's time to let it pass.   I think at this stage, we all deal with grief in some way.  Grief over outco...

JUST A LITTLE SOMETHING!

This week at LifeChurch, Lysa Terkuerst was the guest speaker.  I've always loved listening to her because she has been vulnerable about her trials and her life.  It hasn't been rainbows and butterflies.  Her marriage ended in divorce after her spouse was unfaithful, multiple times.  She tried for years to make it work, but it didn't.  She told us what she prayed every morning and I thought it was so good that I wanted to share it with you. She prays: Lord, Let me see you today Let me hear you today. Let me know you more today Let me love you more today. Today I surrender my outcomes to you.   Help me to trust you with the things you allow in my life. I surrender my will to you.  Not my will, my desires, but yours. Lead me to someone to encourage today Lead me to someone to forgive today Let me be a light to those around me today (I added that!) She added that humility is a strength, not a weakness.  And that is always the safe place to be be...

WE ARE YOUR PEOPLE

It's Friday night.  I just finished a bubble bath.  I was soaking in the tub and thinking about class today.  It always makes me laugh.  I was thinking about how everyone is so different but together it works.  Everyone has a story.  Some people grew up here, some just moved here.  Some have been retired for years, some have just retired or not yet retired.  Some had careers, some were stay at home moms.  Some have big families, some have small families.  Some travel, some stay home.  Some are extrovert.  Some are introvert.  Some have had illnesses and surgeries, some have not.  But that is what makes us so great.  Everyone is so unique and different. I love this class so much.  I know that God created this class, brought us together, gave us a wonderful place to meet with A/C (smile).  He protects us, hears our prayers, cares for each one of us.  And I was thinking how we glorify Him.  When ...
